Soroptimist International of Upper Pinellas COunty

Soroptimist International of Upper Pinellas County is located in Pinellas County, Florida which includes Clearwater, Largo, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair, Oldsmar, Pinellas Park, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs & St Petersburg. We are on the west coast of Florida . Beautiful white beaches are in our county.
We meet the fourth Tuesday of each month except for December & June. In December we hold a Christmas Party. In June we join with the other 2 clubs of our area for a joint installation of officers. Our meetings are held at the Club Room of Pierce 100 Condo. We have a social hour from 5:30 until 6:00. The meeting begins promptly at 6:00 PM. Our president covers correspondence , classifications & other items during salad. We sometimes have an interesting program that begins during dessert. But many times our business meeting fills our time. The cost of the meal is $12.00. You are invited to join us if you are interested in becoming a member or are a visiting Soroptimist from another area. .

THE WAY WE WERE!! 2002 - 2003
We attended the Joint Installation Champagne Brunch which was hosted by SI of St Petersburg in the lovely atmosphere of "Central Thyme", an art works & catered cafe. Paula Harvey, outgoing District 2 Director, coordinated the installation ceremony. The camaraderie of the neighboring clubs, St Pete, Holiday Isles, Tampa and Upper Pinellas is of long duration. Betsi Lewis sponsored "Woman Pins" by Lucinda. The club purchased them as a fund raiser. . We were pleased to present Sharon Coil, director of Women on the Way, with our annual contribution and will continue to support this marvelous program. Our contribution this year was $1375. Individual members supported the Soroptimist Rose Bowl Parade. We received a Patch for our Club banner. Marsha, Betsi, Minnie, Terry Sue and our new member, Susan Kinney attended the District 2 meeting hosted by SI of St. Petersburg. Christmas Party was held at Pat Arbutine's house. We gave $250 to our Christmas family ( A single mother with a boy & a girl given to us by Sharon Coyle) Our Women’s Opportunity Award recipient was Joyce Kelley, a 45 year old widow with 4 children. Joyce is attending St. Petersburg College. Marie & Alice were active volunteers at the Women on the Way program, We held a most successful Women Honoring Women!. The "brunch" concept this year made for an accommodating event and the favorable comments certainly were rewarding for the tremendous planning and much effort that was apparent. Of course, honoring "our own" Alice Schutzendorf made this event very special Good News!!!Our own Marsha McGrath won first place at the Florida State Fair for her afghan. Betsi,Terry Sue, Susan & President Mel Regional Conference in Columbus, GA . Nancy Cusick , regional director for the Ruby Lee Minor Program and Marion De Trude transferred their memberships to our club.
