Soroptimist International of Upper Pinellas COunty

Soroptimist International of Upper Pinellas County is located in Pinellas County, Florida which includes Clearwater, Largo, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair, Oldsmar, Pinellas Park, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs & St Petersburg. We are on the west coast of Florida . Beautiful white beaches are in our county.
We meet the fourth Tuesday of each month except for December & June. In December we hold a Christmas Party. In June we join with the other 3 clubs of our area for a joint installation of officers. Our meetings are held at the Radisson Hotel, Clearwater Central, 20957 US Hwy #19 North. just north of Gulf to Bay. We have a social hour & dinner from 5:30 until 7:00. The meeting begins promptly at 7:00 PM. Our meals are ordered individually from the menu. THE WAY WE WERE!! 2006 - 2007

This year held another loss for us.

We lost Marie York, a long time Soroptimist. She is missed.

On the positive side:

We donated $250 to Women on the Way in memory of Marie.

We held a very successful Career Night in January.

We induced five new members and one returnee. We had two transfers back to our club.

Some of our members attended a Women on the Way event sponsored by Steinmart. They brought school supplies for children.

Our members, Alice and Marie, Volunteered at Women on the Way.

We had good participation in the District II Meeting – October 6 & 7th. This event was hosted by SI Orlando. Our own member, Betsi, District II Director, chaired the meeting.

Sara Shane from Big Brothers and Sisters was a speaker at our meeting. Individual members gave donations to her cause.

We enjoyed a shopping night in November at the Silver Queen hosted by our member, Pat

We held our Christmas Party at Martha's where we enjoyed a pot luck luncheon and a White elephant gift exchange.

We gave a Christmas gift of $500 to Women on the Way.

We donated $50 to SIA Club Campaign.

We moved our meeting place to the Radisson. We were able to get a private room for the meeting.

Our Women Honoring Women Event was held at the Clearwater Country Club on March 10th.
We honored 4 Women from the community with plaques.
We gave $800 to our "Women's Opportunity Award" winner.
We gave $100 to our Violet Richardson Award winner and a matching $100 to her service partner.

Seven of our members attended the Southern Region Conference, May 4th - May 6th in Key Largo, Florida. The event was hosted by the Homestead Club.

We joined with the other Tampa Bay Clubs for our Installation of Officers on June 9th. This was sponsored by the Largo Club. Most of our members attended.

In July, 2006, we gave $2054.42 in service funds to "Women on the Way". Service funds from this year will be presented in the 2007-2008 year.

We won the bid from Southern Region to host the Conference in 2008.
